Located at the foot of the Central Balkan National Park, Karlovo is 147 km from Bulgaria's capital, Sofia, and 56 km from the regional airport, in Plovdiv. The region has good hiking trails and is known for its roses.
With a population of 28,000, locals and visitors navigate the region through an extensive network of busses and trains. Bulgaria's currency is the Euro. Hotels average €25-30 per night. The average annual temperatures are 32°F in winter and 73°F in summer.
